The Otteri police on Wednesday (February 5, 2025) arrested three persons on charges of assaulting a 51-year-old resident of Pulianthope.

The police said R. Raghu, a resident of VOC Nagar in Pulianthope, had gone to attend his relative’s funeral in BS Murthy Nagar on Tuesday (February 4, 2025), where a group of persons, in an inebriated condition, fell on him while dancing. When Raghu asked the three persons to avoid dancing near him, they allegedly abused him and later assaulted him with an iron rod. The attack left him with broken nose and teeth, and he was admitted to a private hospital for treatment.

The Otteri police identified the accused persons as S. Manikandan, A. Samuel, and Raghul, all hailing from Pulianthope. An attempt to murder case has been registered.

The police said that Manikandan and Samuel collectively had nearly 10 criminal cases pending against them.
