Prayagraj: The Maha Kumbh mela authorities will attempt to make four
Guinness world records. Among these, the first attempt will witness 15,000 sanitation workers cleaning the ghats together on Feb 14, which will be a record in itself. Previously, in Kumbh 2019, 10,000 employees cleaned the ghats together, and in this way, India will break its own record. In the second world record, to be attempted on Feb 15, more than 300 people will clean the water stream in Sangam, which will be a new record.
On Feb 16, 1,000 e-rickshaws will be operated at the parade ground simultaneously, thus making a new world record. On Feb 28, 2019, a parade of 500 buses, operated by the UP State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC), was conducted on National Highway-19 and set the Guinness World Record for the "largest parade of buses" during the kumbh. The buses travelled a distance of over 3.2km, which broke the previous record of 390 buses held by Abu Dhabi in 2010.
Similarly, on Feb 17, 10,000 people will create a world record by doing hand printing in eight hours in the Ganga pandal. Presently, the world record for the most contributions to a handprint painting in an eight-hour period is held by the Prayagraj mela authority, with 7,664 individuals contributing to a handprint painting during Kumbh 2019. Thus, the mela authorities will also break their own record. These records will be supervised and authenticated by a team from Guinness Book and World Record, which will shortly arrive in Prayagraj.
"The attempt to make four world records in Maha Kumbh will start from Feb 14. First, the record of cleanliness, then river cleanliness, then e-rickshaw, and finally hand printing will be made, and preparations for this event have been completed," said DM of Maha Kumbh, Vijay Kiran Anand.
