Amravati: Kirit Somaiya, former MP and BJP leader, will lodge a complaint on Thursday at Anjangaon Surji police station regarding alleged illegal and fake birth certificates provided to Bangladeshi Rohingyas from the tehsildar office at Anjangaon Surji.
Kirit Somaiya had recently alleged that fake birth certificates were provided to Bangladeshi Rohingyas at Anjangaon Surji tehsil in Amravati district. A special investigation team was also constituted by the district collector to investigate into this allegation.
Somaiya had also visited Anjangaon Surji town on Jan 13 and met tehsildar Pushpa Solanke and also the collector at Amravati. Somaiya had alleged that fake birth certificates had been issued at Anjangaon Surji and this was actually a Vote Jihad-2 funding scam. While interacting with mediapersons he had asked how 1,400 Muslims were given birth certificates in a single month at Anjangaon Surji and what the tehsil administration investigated while issuing these documents.
Meanwhile, in a letter issued by Kirit Somaiya to Anjangaon Surji police station on Feb 4, he mentioned that in Nov 2023, the tehsildar or deputy collector got the right to issue delayed birth certificates while in actual the process to distribute delayed birth certificates through tehsildar or deputy collector started in 2024. Anjangaon Surji tehsil office in 2024 received 1,484 applications in 2024 and not a single application was rejected. Delayed birth certificates were given illegally and through corrupt practices to illegal Bangladeshis in large numbers. Somaiya has said that he will lodge a complaint with due proof during a visit to Anjangaon Surji police station at on Feb 6.
