Amritsar: The US military C-17 Globemaster military aircraft remained at Amritsar's Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport for a little over three hours before departing for the United States, after unloading the deported Indian migrants.
The arrival and presence of the US military aircraft poked the curiosity of people, as many gathered to see it. A source said the plane was perhaps the first of US military to land in Punjab.
The C-17 aircraft, which flew from San Antonio at Texas, US, landed at Sri Guru Ramdas Ji International Airport, India, at 1.55pm and left at 5.15 pm.
A senior police officer, who didn't wish to give his name, informed that police would verify how they went abroad, how much money they paid, and to whom, to expose the fraudster travel agents.
Sources have not ruled out the possibility of more flights carrying illegally residing migrants from the US arriving in India in near future. While reports on Tuesday indicated that 205 Indians were being deported, it was revealed on Wednesday that only 104 arrived. "We expect more deportation flights to land at various airports across India as part of the Trump administration's new immigration policy," sources added.
