Explaining a similar incident, an user posted on Reddit, as quoted by Zee News “This afternoon my girlfriend got a call from a person who said he is from Swiggy and he has a package in my name. He asked to open the door.” In response to this post, a user wrote, “This is a common scam method, don’t worry. I have read many such scam stories. The parcel will be COD (cash on delivery) and your girlfriend will have paid the money and the package will contain cheap food items or an empty box.”
An user wrote on the post of the scam that, “Gated society doesn’t mean that the security is completely strong. There could be a lapse in security. It could be that this guy is stalking your girlfriend. He could have delivered an order earlier and after app confirmation, he stalked her using your number. I suggest you to check this number with security and also check if he has ever delivered to your house before. Then you can lodge a complaint with the police and the service provider.”
