Four sentenced to 10-year RI for smuggling ganja

First Additional Special Court for Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act Cases in Madurai on Tuesday sentenced four men to 10-year rigorous imprisonment for smuggling 70 kg ganja in Madurai district in 2021.

First Additional Special Court Judge A.S. Hariharakumar sentenced the four men - S. Alagupandi, A. Muthupandi, S. Sethupathi and M Raja Prabhu - to 10-year rigorous imprisonment and also imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh each.

During a vehicle check on Koothiyarkundu road on February 4, 2021, a team from the Austinpatti police station searched two motorcycles and seized 70 kg ganja from the four men.
