Mysuru: Additional deputy commissioner P Shivaraju on Wednesday asked the student community to stay away from drugs. He was speaking after inaugurating an awareness event on the ill effects of alcohol and drugs, organised jointly by the State Temperance Board, department of health and family welfare, information and public relations, and Maharaja's Pre-University College at its campus in the city.
He pointed to drug abuse and asked students to treat their bodies like places of worship. The officer urged students to develop good habits and inculcate values to lead dignified and respectful lives.
He asked students to focus on their studies, careers, and the fulfilment of goals and ambitions in life by developing good qualities. He advised them to stay away from alcohol and use social media and television for constructive activities to be successful in life. He also appealed to them to stop emulating cinema heroes and instead become their own role models.
Psychiatrist Dr BN Raveesh advised students to avoid junk food. Assistant director of information TK Harish, district health and family welfare surveillance officer Dr Nagaraju, and Maharaja's PU College principal Udayashankar were present.
