Rajkot: Joyous weddings turned into mourning for two families after four men died in two accidents reported in Amreli and Junagadh districts on Wednesday.
In the first accident, four friends who were attending a wedding at Keshod in Junagadh district died when their car crashed into a tree. They had gone out for a late-night snack on Junagadh Road. The impact was so severe that two of them died on the spot. Two others were rushed to Junagadh Civil Hospital, police said.
The deceased were identified as Vijay Solanki and Sanjay Dabhi. The car was so badly mangled by the collision that the fire department had to cut through the wreckage to retrieve the bodies.
In the other accident, two men died at Khambha town of Amreli district when a speeding pickup van hit their motorcycle near Khadadhar village at about 5pm on Wednesday. The pickup van hit two motorcycles and a car before striking the victims' two-wheeler.
The victims, Kana Gida (49) and Bharatgiri Goswami (35) from Madhda village of Savarkundla taluka, were on their way to distribute invitations for the wedding of a woman in their family when the crash occurred.
