In a major development which could shake the Rs 57,450 crore Ayurvedic products market in India, billionaire Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries is reportedly planning to venture into the sector, and launch a premium Ayurvedic beauty brand by April this year. According to reports, Reliance Retail, India’s largest retailer, is prepping to launch an Ayurvedic beauty brand under its beauty retail platform, Tira.
Reports suggest that Reliance’s Ayurvedic brand will include a wide-range of products related to skincare, body-care, haircare and health, apart from from a full-range of Ayurvedic beauty products like face cream, body lotion, soap, hair shampoo, conditioner, among others.
As per reports, Reliance has completed the testing its Ayurvedic products, acquired the necessary licenses, and the Mukesh Ambani-led company is expected to launch the brand as early as April 2025. All the products will be will be manufactured completely under Reliance’s ecosystem to ensure the company has total control over quality and production, they said.
The products will be available on both online and offline platforms, including Tira and other Reliance Retail-owned stores, and also on also on all leading e-commerce platforms, especially those owned by Reliance.
The Ayurveda market in the country has witnessed a rapid expansion in recent years, with a 2023 report predicting the sector to grow to Rs 1.2 lakh crore by 2028.
Reliance Retail, India’s largest retailer, is headed by Isha Ambani, the daughter of billionaire Mukesh Ambani. Reliance Retail is a partner brand of major international brands such as Versace, Amiri, Armani, and Balenciaga, bringing reputed international brands, into the Indian market.
Under Isha Ambani’s leadership, the company, which has an estimated value of around Rs 8.3 lakh crores, has witnessed exponential growth in a short period of time, opening 3,300 stores across the country in 2023.
