After a five-year hiatus, Chinese fast-fashion giant Shein has re-entered the Indian market through a strategic partnership with Reliance Retail. The Shein India Fast Fashion app is now live, offering budget-friendly apparel starting at ₹199 and currently delivering in Delhi NCR, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, and Thane, with plans for nationwide expansion.

Under the agreement, Reliance Retail has full operational control, ensuring all customer data remains in India while Shein functions purely as a technology partner. This comeback aligns with India’s push for local manufacturing, as all products sold under Shein India will be designed and produced domestically, giving a boost to the textile industry.

The relaunch comes after Shein was banned in 2020 over data security concerns. However, with stringent regulations in place, including regular cybersecurity audits, the Indian government has approved the partnership.

The move is expected to intensify competition in India’s budget fashion segment, challenging established players like Flipkart, Amazon, and homegrown brands. As the e-commerce landscape evolves, Reliance aims to strengthen its position in the fast-growing online fashion market.
