New Delhi: Congress leader Pawan Khera on Tuesday talked about his "obsessive dream" regarding Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During an interview with news agency ANI, Khera said he has a dream that PM Modi should sit in the Opposition. The Congress leader further added that his dream would come true before 2029 as there would be mid-term elections.
"I have a dream...Narendra Modi should sit in opposition now, without defeating him, my ‘Tapasya’ won’t end…he should be sitting in opposition facing all the insults that we faced in the last 10 years, that is a very obsessive dream I have…this will happen before 2029…we are going accordingly," the Congress leader said during the interview.
Pawan Khera's Statement:
Khera is a staunch critic of PM Modi. Last year, before the Maharashtra and Jharkhand assembly polls, the Congress spokesperson called PM Modi a "cheap villain of a C-grade Hindi film" for calling the government of JMM-Congress alliance in the eastern state a 'ghuspaithiya' sarkar (government of infiltrators.
"Such dialogues are spoken by a cheap villain of a C-grade Hindi film and do not behove him. You must improve upon your language," Khera had said as quoted by PTI.
Khera Speaking On Congress-AAP Relations During ANI Interview:
The senior Congress leader said that Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) would not have been part of the INDIA bloc if the Congress had a choice. "If Congress was given a choice, I don't think he (Arvind Kejriwal) would have been a part (of the INDIA alliance). I don't think we on our own took him or dumped him. He dumped himself out," Khera told ANI in an interview.
His comments came a day before the Delhi Assembly Elections 2025. Notably, both the Congress and the AAP are part of the Opposition's INDIA bloc, yet these two parties are engaged in a fierce electoral contest in Delhi. Delhi is witnessing a triangular contest between the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the ruling AAP and the Congress.
The votes for the Delhi polls will be counted on February 8.
