Jaisalmer: Five people including two children of a family lost their lives after their car collided with another vehicle on the Sindhari Mega Highway near Balotra's Payla Khurd village Monday night. Eight others were injured who are undergoing treatment.
Sindhari police team reached the spot along with Balotra police superintendent Harishankar, additional police superintendent Gopal Singh Bhati, and other officers. They noted all the details and supervised rescue efforts. The injured were rushed to Sindhari Community Health Centre via 108 ambulances by the police and locals. Given their serious conditions, they were later transferred to Jodhpur.
The deceased were identified as Ashok (60), Shravan (28), Beauty (25), Mandeep (4) and Rinku (6 months), all residents of Payla Kalan.
According to SP Harishankar, Ashok Kumar Soni from Payla was returning home with his family after shopping in Sindhari town when their vehicle collided with an oncoming car from Gujarat. The accident left thirteen people seriously injured. Two persons died on the spot, while three others succumbed to injuries during treatment. After initial care at Sindhari Community Health Centre, eight injured were transferred to Jodhpur.
The SP told TOI that Sindhari police seized the damaged vehicles and have begun an investigation into the accident's cause. The bodies have been kept in Sindhari's CHC mortuary. Police and administration are conducting a joint investigation. tnn
