Thane: A fire broke out in the kitchen of Maiz Mexican Hotel at Pachpakhadi in Thane West, on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred around 11:09 am, reportedly due to a malfunction in an oil fryer.

While the blaze caused damage to kitchen equipment and electrical wiring, no injuries were reported. Visuals of the incident have gone viral on the internet showing scenes of the burnt oil fryer that was involved in the mishap.

According to the Thane Municipal Corporation’s Disaster Management Cell, the fire was first reported by the Pachpakhadi Fire Station. Firefighters, along with disaster management personnel, rushed to the spot with one fire engine and one rescue vehicle.

Officials confirmed that only hotel staff members were present at the time of the fire, and there were no customers on the premises. The fire was quickly brought under control with the combined efforts of the hotel staff, fire brigade personnel and disaster management teams.

Although the situation has been contained, the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. Authorities have urged commercial establishments to conduct regular fire safety checks to prevent similar incidents in the future.
