The killing occurred at Wavaniya village in Maliya-Miyana taluka of Morbi district on Sunday. It came to light on Tuesday and police arrested two persons, Javed Jeda (28) and Aslam Gafoor Mowar (30), for the murder of their friend Wasim Piludiya.
They were booked under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Sections 103(1) and 54, and the Arms Act by Maliya-Miyana police after the victim's father, Ghulam Hussain Piludiya, 62, filed a complaint.
According to the FIR, Wasim left for the hunting trip at about 5pm on Sunday with Aslam and Javed. The three friends were apparently out to hunt nilgai and wild boar in the area.
At about 8pm, a neighbour, Nizam, told Ghulam Hussain that there had been a fight between the three and Wasim had suffered bullet wounds. When Ghulam Hussain rushed to the hospital in Morbi, he met Hamid, another friend, who had brought Wasin in for treatment in his SUV. Hamid said he learned about the incident from Javed, who sought his help.
Wasim had suffered gunshot wounds to his right shoulder and neck and succumbed to them.
According to police, the trio spotted an animal and Aslam, who brought a locally-made firearm, aimed at it. Wasim tried to grab the weapon, insisting on taking the shot. An argument ensued and in a fit of rage, Javed allegedly snatched the gun from Aslam and shot Wasim.
