Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh men's kabaddi team clinched the gold medal at the 38th National Games, held in Uttarakhand, after a stellar display of agility, strategy, and teamwork to win a thrilling 57-43 win over Chandigarh. UP also secured another gold on Sunday with Praveen Kumar Pathak emerging winner in the artistic yoga in men's singles category.
In the artistic women's pair yoga event, Aryanshi Swami and Simran clinched a silver medal, while the Uttar Pradesh squash team secured a bronze in the women's team event. On Sunday, the state athletes collected a total of five medals, including two golds, two silvers, and a bronze, bringing Uttar Pradesh's medal tally to six golds, four silvers, and five bronzes, taking them to 9th place on the overall standings. Meanwhile, in the squash competition in Dehradun, UP's women's squash team secured a bronze after losing to Maharashtra in the semi-final.
CMS, SPS win best school trophies
CMS Rajajipuram and Shivani Public School bagged the best school trophies in the 7th Shivani District Inter-School Chess Championship, concluded on Sunday. In the boys' category, CMS Rajajipuram clinched the top spot while St Mary's Convent School and LPS Virat Khand-4 finished second and third respectively. In the girls' category, Shivani Public School won the gold, St. Mary's Convent School took the silver, and CMS Rajajipuram finished third. CEO Shivani Group Sudhir Dubey gave away the prizes.
Siddiqui win golf tourney
Zoheb Siddiqui won the overall championship title at the Springboks Golf Tournament, held at the Lucknow Golf Club on Sunday. Swadesh Singh showcased precision to win the Nearest to Pin award, while Siddharth Ahuja smashed the Longest Drive. In junior divisions, Ridharv Narain and Abeer Singh emerged as winners. Deepa Vatsa and YK Goel emerged as best players in ladies' and veterans' categories respectively. Anil Kumar, IAS, gave away the prizes.
