Atal labs in all govt schools in UP
Lucknow: Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman's announcement to set up 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) in govt schools over the next five years means all UP schools will be saturated with ATLs. The initiative aims to promote scientific thinking, creativity and hands-on learning among students.
Currently, UP has ATLs in 101 govt secondary schools. The process for another 535 ATLs is ongoing."These ATLs are expected to be in place by March end," said additional state project director, Samagra Shiksha, VK Pandey.
UP has 2,400 govt-run secondary schools, of which 900 are intermediate and 1,500 high schools. In the first phase, ATLs are being established in intermediate schools. "UP will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of ATLs. In the next five years, all our 2,400 schools will be saturated with ATLs," said an official.
The FM's promise to provide broadband connectivity to secondary schools received a thumbs up from officials. "We already have CCTVs in schools. Broadband connectivity will provide faster internet access, which will aid in teaching and learning," Pandey said.
