Lucknow: Reacting to Union finance minister
Nirmala Sitharaman's statement during her Budget speech regarding "incentivizing electricity distribution reforms", the All-India Power Engineers' Federation said it is a part of govt's step to privatise state-run discoms, jeopardise jobs and future of lakhs of employees working in various states of India.
"We will incentivise electricity distribution reforms and augment intra-state transmission capacity by states.
This will improve financial health of electricity companies. Additional borrowing of 0.5% of GSDP will be allowed to states, contingent on these reforms," Sitharaman said while presenting Union Budget on Saturday.
Chairman of All-India Power Engineers' Federation, Shailendra Dubey, said: "Two days ago, for the first time, the govt of India formed a group of ministers headed by the Union power minister."
