The plantation sector, comprising tea, coffee, rubber and spices, has received higher budgetary allocation for 2025-2026.

While the tea sector has been allocated ₹771 crore as against ₹500 crore in the revised estimate for 2024-2025, the Coffee Board has received ₹280 crore (₹250 crore for 2024-2025). The Rubber Board and Spices Board have received ₹360 crore (₹348 crore) and ₹153.81 crore (₹130 crore) respectively.

An official of the Tea Board said the hike in allocation for the tea sector was mainly for the Pradhan Mantri Cha Shramik Protsahan Yojana (PM-CSPY) scheme that would benefit women workers and children. Allocations were made for the scheme in 2024-2025 and now for 2025-2026.

There is a slight hike in allocation for all the four plantation segments and no other specific major announcement for the plantation segment, said a source in the sector.
