Saran jewellery shop loot case: 4 arrested
Chhapra: Police arrested four criminals on Saturday for their alleged involvement in the loot at Kolhua Bazar where a jewellery and utensils shop was targeted on Thursday. The police also recovered looted gold jewellery from them.
Saran SP Kumar Ashish said Sahajitpur police received a tip-off on Saturday that criminal Ravish Kumar and his accomplices were planning a crime and had assembled near Pindara School. Acting on the information, the police conducted a raid and arrested four of the criminals. However, one of their accomplices managed to escape.
"When the arrested criminals were matched with the CCTV footage collected from Kolhua Bazar, it confirmed their involvement in the Kolhua Bazar loot," the SP added. The police began interrogating the suspects individually and all of them confessed to being involved not only in the Kolhua Bazar incident but also in the jewellery shop loot in Kuchaikote (Gopalganj). Following the confession of one of the arrested criminals, Ajai Singh, the police recovered 3kg of silver concealed underground in a poultry farm at Barharia in Siwan.
The arrested criminals were identified as Ravish Kumar, Sanjit Kumar, Ajai Singh, and Binod Kumar Yadav. The police also seized two pistols, four cartridges and three motorcycles from their possession.
