Jaipur: For the Class 10 Social Studies exam, subject experts emphasise that a clear understanding of topics and simple language in answers can help students score well.
Teachers stress the importance of written practice while preparing, as it reinforces concepts and aids retention.
Rajani Sharma, a social science teacher at Army Public School, advises students to thoroughly review all topics, identify their strengths, and focus more on chapters they grasp well.
"For chapters students find challenging, they should create concise summaries highlighting key points and concepts. Writing these in their own simplified language will improve comprehension. Additionally, developing mind maps can help with quick recall during exams," said Rajani Sharma, a social science teacher at Army Public School.
She stressed the importance of analysing previous years' question papers to identify frequently recurring questions. "The paper pattern requires close attention. Reading NCERT chapters is sufficient for the objective section, which consists of 20 one-mark questions. Map work, however, needs dedicated practice, as it is an easy-scoring area," she added.
Sharma advised students to seek clarification immediately if they have doubts rather than delaying. "Time management is critical in social science, as many students find the paper lengthy. Even with thorough knowledge, students must allocate time wisely—11-12 minutes for five-mark questions, 7-8 minutes for three-mark questions, and the last 10 minutes for revision to ensure no question is left unanswered," said Sharma.
Lastly, Sharma reassured students that complex vocabulary is not necessary for scoring well. Instead, they should focus on presenting clear and precise answers that convey the core concepts effectively.
