CII Salem zone welcomes Union Budget

The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Salem Zone, welcomed the budget tabled by the Union Government for 2025-26 on Saturday. The CII says the budget would boost MSME, startups, agriculture, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and tourism sectors.

CII Salem zonal chairman, J. Ashok Kumar, said that the change in investment and turnover criteria for MSME units and the change in the credit guarantee cover for micro and small enterprises to ₹10 crore from the current ₹5 crore is a big boost to the MSME sector. The government’s plan to launch customised credit cards for microenterprises registered on the UDYAM Portal with a limit of ₹5 lakh will resolve working capital issues at microenterprises.

“The National Mission for Edible Oils and Seeds to drive self-reliance in the agriculture sector will boost farming across India. The five-year-mission for cotton productivity will facilitate significant improvements in productivity and sustainability of cotton farming and promote extra-long staple cotton varieties for the benefit of lakhs of cotton farmers apart from providing the required raw material supply for the textiles sector. Increasing the limit under the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme from ₹3 lakh to ₹5 lakh will support the growing farming requirements and also provide greater financial flexibility to farmers,” Mr. Ashok Kumar added.

CII Salem zonal vice chairman Senthil Kumar said that the broadband connectivity to all government secondary schools and primary healthcare centres, five National Centres of Excellence for Skilling and three Centres of Excellence in Artificial Intelligence for education will boost education and skills. “Allocation of ₹96,000 crore for developing, maintaining, and improving the country’s healthcare system in addition to the allocation of ₹2,445 crore for PLI for the pharmaceutical industry will boost the healthcare sector largely,” Mr. Senthil added.
