Mumbai: Four persons were injured after a portion of a slab of the fourth floor of a private school building on Juhu Tara Road fell on an adjoining chawl structure during demolition.
Of the four injured rushed to R N Cooper Hospital, Manishkumar Sahani (24) is critical and admitted to the ICU, Kamleshkumar Yadav (28) is under observation, while Shamkumar Yadav (20) and Krushna Yadav (26) were treated and discharged, according to a BMC release. They all work in a hotel, said sources.
Santacruz police said that a part of a pillar of Maneckji Cooper High School fell during razing. According to fire brigade officials, the school trust built a new building and was razing the old one. "The incident happened when an excavator was being used...A portion of the fourth-floor slab...fell on the roof of Shivaji Nagar chawl...The leg of one of the two seriously injured persons was amputated," said a firefighter. tnn
