Chandigarh: An unknown person stole a purse containing cash, an iPhone, gold ornaments, and other documents after tricking a woman by spreading currency notes of Rs 10 near her car in Sector 11 market.
Based on the woman's statement, the police registered an FIR against unknown persons and started a probe. No arrest has been made in the case so far.
In her complaint, Sharanjit Kaur, a resident of Manimajra, said that she went to Sector 11 market to buy medicines with her son, brother, and sister-in-law on Jan 20.
She was sitting alone in the car while the others went to buy medicines.
In the meantime, an unknown person knocked on her window and told her that her money was lying on the road. She came out of the car and found five notes of Rs 10 lying near her car.
After picking up the notes, she sat back in the car and found that her purse kept in the car was missing. She reported the matter to police station. After verifying the facts, the police registered a case against the unknown person and have been checking CCTV cameras installed near the crime scene to identify the accused.
