Chandigarh: A delegation from Belagavi is in Chandigarh on a study tour regarding the best practices implemented by the municipal corporation here. The delegation is led by Shubham Sharma, junior engineer, solid waste management. He is visiting along with a delegation of 42 councillors and two officers.
Their day-long visit started with a presentation on the best practices of the municipal corporation at the MC office, Sector 17. Later, they were taken for site visits of the MC's projects as well.
City mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla and municipal commissioner Amit Kumar welcomed the delegation at the MC office, followed by a brief introduction to the projects, best practices, and functions of the MC and Smart City.
They gave a brief presentation on the solid waste management system, waste segregation system, roads, water supply, gardens and green belts, street lights, tertiary treated water supply, processing of construction and demolition (C&D) waste plant, horticulture waste processing plant, property tax, management of gaushalas, vendor rehabilitation system, and other projects of the MC.
