CM inaugurates, lays stone for projects worth Rs 1,328 crores in Bhagalpur
Bhagalpur: Directing the district officials to work with zeal for the region's progress, chief minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 146 schemes worth Rs 1,328.25 crores during his ‘Pragati Yatra' in Bhagalpur on Saturday.
Of the inaugurated schemes, 18 were smart city-related projects under the urban development and housing department.Besides, six schemes were allotted for the building department, one for road construction, two for the welfare of scheduled tribe (ST) as well as scheduled caste (SC), 11 for minor water resources, two for labour resources, one for the panchayati raj, 32 for rural development, and one for health department among others. The CM also laid the foundation stone for 63 projects, including 35 for the rural development department.
Nitish, along with deputy CM Samrat Choudhary, water resources and parliamentary affairs minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary and others reached the Bhagalpur airstrip in a chopper. They were welcomed by Bhagalpur DM Nawal Kishor Choudhary and others, including the Bhagalpur JD(U) MP Ajay Kumar Mandal.
After landing, the CM headed to the Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) and laid the foundation stone of Agriculture Bio-Technology building in Sabour worth Rs 72 crores. He also inaugurated two laboratories constructed at a cost of Rs 29 crores.
Later, Nitish visited Bahadurpur High School in Barari panchayat. He inaugurated the basketball, badminton, and volleyball courts as well as a running track in the school and proposed an interstate bus stand on Jicho-Goradih road, a railway over bridge at Ishakchak, an integrated command and control centre, and a Samiksha Bhawan to review the ongoing works in the area.
In a press statement, the CM promised to get a road over bridge on the Bounsi railway line, a new interstate bus stand, a sports complex at Naugachia, a super sociality department for the treatment of cancer patients at JLNMCH, a check dam on the upstream of Goriari river at Champanagar, steps for the development of tourist for Sultanganj Jahaj Ghat, industrial park at Goradih block, green-field airport, new block-cum circle building and residential quarters at Pirpainty, Bihpur, Sahkund, Kahalgaon, Sabour, Naugachia and Sanhoula blocks.
Lastly, acknowledging the urgent need for starting air services from Bhagalpur, Nitish said that the state govt would request the central govt to commence small-capacity aeroplane services under the centre's scheme of ‘Regional Connectivity Scheme (RCS) – Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik (UDAN)'.
"Many developmental works have been completed but much more has to be accomplished in future for the Bhagalpur region," Kumar said.
