Spirit AeroSystems Holdings, has taken a major step toward becoming part of The Boeing Company, as shareholders have overwhelmingly approved the proposed acquisition in a special meeting held today. The deal, initially announced last summer, is anticipated to be finalized by mid-2025, pending regulatory approvals and other closing conditions.
As one of the world’s leading aerostructures manufacturers, Spirit AeroSystems plays a critical role in global aerospace production. The company specializes in manufacturing fuselages, integrated wings, wing components, pylons, and nacelles for commercial aircraft, defense programs, and regional jets. Leveraging expertise in both aluminum and advanced composite materials, Spirit has positioned itself as a key supplier for cutting-edge aerostructure solutions.
In addition to its core manufacturing operations, Spirit AeroSystems supports the aftermarket for commercial and business jets. The company’s global footprint spans facilities in the United States, United Kingdom, France, Malaysia, and Morocco, with its headquarters in Wichita, Kansas. Spirit also contributes to defense innovation, developing high-temperature materials and mission-critical components for military applications.
With the approval of its shareholders, Spirit AeroSystems is now moving closer to integrating into Boeing’s operations, a transition that could reshape the aerospace supply chain in the years ahead.
