Patna: State tourism minister Nitish Mishra on Friday asked hotel and travel operators to focus on cleanliness and a "tourist-friendly" atmosphere. Mishra said even the govt's priority was to provide all facilities at tourist spots along with cleanliness and hygienic surroundings.
He was addressing a state-level workshop on the ‘Green Leaf Rating System' (GLRS), which was also attended by hotel operators and tour operators. GLRS is the govt's initiative to evaluate and rate the hygiene and sanitation standards of hospitality facilities like hotels, homestays and tourist lodges, stressing clean and safe sanitation practices.
Mishra asked them to ensure proper waste management and a "tourist-friendly" atmosphere to provide tourists with better feelings and memories. He further said the state witnessed an increase in the number of tourists and they were expecting it to rise further.
State tourism secretary Lokesh Kumar Singh said they would be adding those hotels to their website which have better GLRS and star ratings, and tourists from across the country can directly book the hotel through the department's website. "This will also help you in your business," added Singh.
Dr Prabhakar Sinha from Unicef gave detailed information on GLRS.
