2 men found dead in their rented room in city
Bhubaneswar: Two men in their 20s were found dead at their rented accommodation in Punjabi colony under Kharavel Nagar police station limits here on Friday. The deceased were identified as Debasis Sahu and Gyanaranjan Behera. Police are yet to ascertain the cause and circumstance of their deaths.
A senior police officer said, "Our investigation is ongoing to determine whether the deaths resulted from suicide, murder, food poisoning, or excessive consumption of drugs or alcohol. The presence of froth in their mouths suggests possible food poisoning. The exact cause would be ascertained after we get the post-mortem report."
Preliminary investigation revealed no signs of physical altercation or tussle in the room or injuries on their bodies. Police also found no suspicious items, poison or alcohol on the premises.
Police sources said the duo went to sleep at night but didn't wake up in the morning, raising suspicion in the mind of the houseowner.
"Both of them were employed at a cake shop in Saheed Nagar area. When their employer knocked at their door in the morning and got no response, he looked through the window and spotted the duo lying on the floor. They were subsequently shifted to Capital Hospital, where they were pronounced dead," the houseowner said, requesting anonymity.
