Activist Snehamayi Krishna, who is the complainant in the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam, has been found guilty by a local court here in a cheque bounce case.

The case dates back to 2015 when Mr. Krishna had issued a cooperative bank cheque for ₹1.75 lakh to one Kumar, who had approached the court.

The Third JMFC Court here found Mr. Krishna guilty in the case on Thursday and directed him to either pay the amount or undergo one year in prison.

However, the activist said he would go in appeal against the order and claimed that the petitioner had taken the cheque from him without giving him the money. He said he now had to furnish a surety and had one month’s time to file appeal against the order.

Meanwhile, the Congress has urged the Mysuru City Police Commissioner to take Mr. Krishna into custody.

Addressing a press conference here on Friday, KPCC spokesman M. Lakshman said the party would launch an agitation if the police show any laxity in acting against Mr. Krishna.
