Vandals resurface in Janata Vasahat, damage 7 vehicles near Nilayam theatre bridge
Pune: Three autorickshaws, a couple of three-wheel tempos and two cars parked near Nilayam theatre bridge in Janata Vasahat were found damaged around 6.15am on Wednesday.
The suspects used iron rods to damage the front windshields of the vehicles. This is the second incident of vehicle vandalism in two consecutive days.
The vandals came to the spot riding triple-seat on a scooter with iron rods and were wearing hoodies, the Parvati police said. The police are searching for the three youngsters and trying to ascertain the registration number of the scooter used in the crime.
On Tuesday morning, as many as 25 two-wheelers and five autorickshaws were damaged in the Janata Vasahat area. The Parvati police detained four minor boys and arrested four adults for damaging the vehicles.
Senior inspector Nandkumar Gaikwad of the Parvati police said, "The two incidents of vehicle vandalism are separate. We are yet to establish the reason behind the act of vandalism on Wednesday morning."
He said, "The CCTV footage near the fire brigade office at Janata Vasahat shows that the three men riding triple-seat on the scooter came to the spot around 6.15am. They damaged windshields of the vehicles and sped away towards Sinhagad Road."
Gaikwad said, "There is no house at the spot. The residents of Janata Vasahat park their vehicles at the spot."
