The Schengen visa application process is relatively straightforward and can be completed in about an hour. The required documents are clearly listed, and you can easily obtain them yourself.

I recently sent my parents to Europe on an escorted tour. Purchased their insurance from policy bazaar a day before visa interview along with flight tickets and hotel reservations. Most airlines have free 24hr cancellation policies (I booked through Qatar Airways). Same with hotel websites, like booking.com

You have to apply through VFS Global for Schengen visa. The agent will charge you for arranging the documents in advance and creating the application on the portal and will do nothing else.

I had gone to Europe pre-covid times.

Kindly note - rules may have changed now.

I did everything on my own.
You can check on website about all the required documents.
Fill it up.
I applied through VFS.
Got my visa.

Though I had an invitation letter and also you need to show good bank balance.
Plus if you are employed with any company you can get a letter from them to support your visa process.

But someone who has gone recently can guide you better.

I am not sure what you can do about it.
But maybe mention that you only have 2 years form.
Also produce your bank balance.

Been multiple times between 2022 and 2024. Currently hold a two year Schengen.
I applied by myself (No Agent), all the times and it got through.
Off Lately, they have a trend of finding flaws and rejecting visa applications left right and centre, especially the prominent schengen countries (France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Netherlands etc).
Its all about making your application full proof leaving no or least scope for rejection. I'll list down the points and weightage.
1. Invite letter from a friend, family member =>. Doubles your chances, Big Big Plus
If not available, apply through countries (Iceland, Greece, Switzerland) , that have lesser rejection rates.
2. Sound financial statement (avoid sudden dumping of money for visa purpose) => Big plus.
3. Previous travel history to other countries , if Europe => plus.
4. Have a clear intent / purpose of visit (Prefer simple words, avoid any fancy write ups)

Its easy to research, as plenty of resources and experiences are available online, with due diligence, you can get through.

How do you show proof of previous visits? My visits are on my old passports.
