Bollywood songs and rain are a perfect combination. From Akshay Kumar and Raveena Tandon to Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan, many iconic duos have been seen dancing in the rain, creating superhit songs that became timeless classics. The rain not only adds a romantic charm to these songs but also elevates the emotions and chemistry between the actors.

However, there is one particular song that was shot in the rain, which became a superhit and also went on to make the film a massive success. What makes this song even more intriguing is the lesser-known, behind-the-scenes fact that will leave you shocked. The song we are talking about is Na Jaane Kahan Se from the 1989 film ChaalBaaz.

This song, starring the legendary Sridevi and Sunny Deol, became a sensation after its release. Despite the rain, the high-energy dance and the brilliant melody, an interesting tale behind the song will surprise you. According to choreographer Saroj Khan, who worked on the song, Sridevi had a 103-degree fever during the shoot. Despite being seriously unwell, she completed the shoot without hesitation. The song not only became a hit but also added to the massive success of the film.

Directed by Pankaj Parashar, ChaalBaaz was a slapstick comedy that saw Sridevi in two contrasting roles. She played twins – Anju, a girl trapped in a cruel environment, and Manju, a tomboyish character raised in a carefree atmosphere. The plot revolves around the two sisters who are separated at birth, with Anju facing torment from her malicious uncle while Manju grows up in a different world. While the duo Laxmikant–Pyarelal composed the film’s music, lyrics were written by Anand Bakshi.

Loosely inspired by the classic Sita Aur Geeta, the film was a commercial success, becoming the fifth highest-grossing film of 1989, earning Rs 8 crore at the box office. It also received 35th Filmfare nominations, winning 12 awards, including recognition for Sridevi’s outstanding performance and Saroj Khan’s choreography. The film’s popularity even led to its Kannada remake, Rani Maharani, in 1990.

In 2021, T-Series announced a reboot of ChaalBaaz titled ChaalBaaz In London, with the same director and Shraddha Kapoor in the lead dual role. However, the film was later put on hold.
