Indore (Madhya Pradesh): The crime branch arrested an on-the-run accused of a firearm supply gang from Delhi, police said on Wednesday.
A member of the gang was arrested by the crime branch after a long chase in 2022 and since then his accomplice has been on the run and a bounty of Rs 10,000 was announced for his arrest.
DCP (crime) Rajesh Tripathi informed Free Press that on the run accused Mohammad Juber, a resident of Shamli (UP) was arrested from Delhi following a tip-off about him.
He was on the run after his accomplice Mohammad Talim, a resident of Shamli was arrested in 2022.
The accused allegedly confessed to visiting Burhanpur and Barwani many times to buy firearms from some people and to supplying the firearms to many gangs in Haryana, UP and Delhi in the past.
It is noteworthy that the crime branch had launched a checking drive on Rau Circle following information about the firearm supplier’s movement in the city in 2022.
Then, the accused in a car hit the police vehicle and they fled towards Manpur. They again hit the police vehicle on Khanghat Barrier. They had fled after leaving their car on the highway near Sanawad.
The car was recovered and about 40 firearms, 36 magazines and 5 live cartridges were seized from the car. Mohammad Talim was arrested after a few days and since then, the police had been searching for Mohammad Juber.
