CM inaugurates Vivekananda Kendra’s regional HQ in Dibrugarh
Dibrugarh: With the state-of-the-art complex, chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma inaugurated Aanandalaya Bhavan, the new regional headquarters of Vivekananda Kendra, Kanyakumari, in Dibrugarh on Monday. Situated on Mahalaya Road, the Bhavan aims to serve as a cornerstone for community development and educational initiatives in the region.
"This institution will act as a bridge between Dibrugarh and Kanyakumari, embodying Swami Vivekananda's vision of national unity and cultural integration. The organisation has been working dedicatedly to uplift the tea tribe and tribal communities in Assam," he said during the inauguration ceremony.
During his address, Sarma delved into Swami Vivekananda's life and ideology, connecting the institution's objectives with the spiritual leader's vision for India's youth.
"Swami Vivekananda believed in the transformative power of education and skill development. This institution will carry forward his legacy by empowering our youth with both knowledge and practical skills," Sarma said.
State power minister and Dibrugarh MLA Prasanta Phukan, tea tribes welfare minister Rupesh Gowala, Rajya Sabha MP Rameswar Teli, and former Union minister Paban Singh Ghatowar were present on the occasion.
The establishment of Aanandalaya Bhavan marks a significant milestone in Vivekananda Kendra's expansion in northeast India. The organisation has outlined plans to implement value-based education programs aimed at instilling moral values and patriotism among the younger generation, while simultaneously working towards holistic rural development.
A standout initiative launched alongside the inauguration is Project Ekalavya, targeting unemployed youth from tea garden communities. The project aims to provide vocational training and create sustainable livelihood opportunities, addressing one of the region's pressing challenges of youth unemployment.
Aanandalaya Bhavan's mission encompasses a comprehensive approach to community development, with a particular focus on creating joyful learning centers for children in underserved areas.
"Our primary goal is to ensure that quality education reaches every corner of the northeast, especially in areas where resources are limited," said a senior representative of Vivekananda Kendra.
