Twinkle Khanna Says She's 'Blamed' For Akshay Kumar's Political Views: 'People Believe He Isn't My Husband...'
Twinkle Khanna said Akshay Kumar is not a toddler who will listen to everything she says.
Akshay Kumar and Twinkle Khanna tied the knot in 2001 and have been married for nearly 24 years now. The couple has two children, a son named Aarav and a daughter named Nitara. However, the two have very different ideologies and barely have commonalities. They have often addressed how they have differing political views and in her latest column for the Times of India, Twinkle mentioned how she is often blamed for them having contrasting ideologies.
Twinkle Khanna wrote, “Sitting for an interview, I am asked, ‘You are a star wife; tell us what it’s like?’ While my first instinct is to bite the reporter’s index finger, I reply, ‘I am not sure that an entity like ‘star wife’ exists, unless, in the way that Manglik women marry trees, because of some Rahu Ketu ka dosh, you end up marrying Sirius or worse, Halley’s Comet.’"

She added, “After 20 years of answering this annoying question, I have an oyster-like attitude to irritants and the ability to craft black pearls of wisdom in response. I’m also often asked about — and blamed for — the difference in our political views. It’s almost like people believe he isn’t my husband but a toddler who will listen to me when I say, ‘Beta ji, please walk on the left side of the road, and I will give you a Frooti.’"
In a previous interview with Galatta India, Akshay Kumar also spoke about the differences between him and Twinkle. Akshay said, “Me and my wife are very different. We are poles apart. She thinks left, I think right. The only thing which is common in us is that we both like to sleep early and wake up early. Another thing which we like is playing Rummy or Ludo. Nothing else is common in us. But, it’s not just about that. Respect is the most important thing. It is important to give each other space. There are 36 traits in people, not necessarily they all have to be common in a couple. But if you have that one trait of respecting each other, I think it’s equivalent to having all the traits you need in a relationship."
Meanwhile, on the work front, Akshay Kumar is currently seen in Sky Force. The film marks Veer Pahariya’s debut and also stars Sara Ali Khan.
