Veer Pahariya’s acting debut in Sky Force has become the talk of the town. It’s no secret that he comes from one of the most powerful political families in the country. His maternal grandfather, Sushilkumar Shinde, was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra between 2003 and 2004. Veer’s maternal aunt, Praniti Shinde, is a member of the Lok Sabha. However, the young actor decided to not follow their footsteps and venture into politics. In an exclusive chat with News18 Showsha, Veer reveals the reason behind this decision.

Talking about how he wanted to carve a niche for himself, he tells us, “People in my family have achieved so much and I knew that being in this family means being sheltered. Very early on in my life, I knew that I wanted to do something different. I always wanted to have my own identity, for as young as I can remember. When I walked into a room, I didn’t want people to know me for the family I come from. I wanted them to know me for who I am and what I bring to the table."

Walking down the memory lane, Veer says that hailing from a political family comes with its own disadvantages and yet he managed to lead a regular life as an adolescent. “When I was five or six, I knew that my life was extremely protected. There were a lot of reasons because of which we couldn’t do certain things. But I lived a very simple life. I don’t have too many friends and those that are, are very normal and simple people from all around the country," he remarks.

According to him, getting enrolled in a boarding school in Haryana opened him up to a new world. And the friends he made there acclimatised him to a new life. “I feel like I’m connected to the cultural fabric and diversity of this country because of my friends, who come from different backgrounds. I, anyway, didn’t grow up in an urban setting like Mumbai or Delhi. The thing is, I’ve always been rebellious because I wanted to act," says Veer, who has been an assistant director in Bhediya.

He further adds, “At a young age, I knew that I couldn’t live life in a certain setting with my family because one needs to really live life to become an actor. That’s why I put myself out there and did risky things right since childhood. And acting is something that came to me naturally – maybe five percent naturally and for the remaining, I had to really work hard. I don’t take anything for granted."

And how has his family reacted to his portrayal of late Air Force officer Ajjamada Boppayya Devayya in Sky Force? “I got a very warm appreciation from my parents, nani, nana and close family members. Unfortunately, my dada passed away a month ago, so I couldn’t have him see the film. But he blessed me and I’ve it on WhatsApp and his words will remain very, very special. My family is very proud of me for being a part of Sky Force," states Veer.
