Jhansi: A class 12 student of a residential government school, committed suicide by jumping from the third-floor terrace of the hostel on the intervening night of January 26/27 .
Social welfare minister Aseem Arun has suspended three school authorities including the principal of the school and has ordered an enquiry.
The deceased studied in the residential school situated in the Dunara area falling under Baragaon police station, and was a brilliant student who consistently scored good marks.
According to his classmates, he appeared depressed regarding his studies and impending board examinations for several days. On Sunday evening, he was reluctant to eat and was coaxed by his hostel mates to consume some dinner.
He stayed in dormitory on the third floor with twelve other roommates. Following dinner, everyone retired to bed. After midnight, one of his roommates awakened to find him absent.
When friends, tried to locate him they his slippers on the terrace while his body lay on the ground in a pool of blood. The student was rushed to Jhansi medical college where doctors pronounced him dead upon arrival. By afternoon, student's family members alsoarrived .
They said that he previously lost his parents and was the youngest of four brothers. His family members alleged foul play in the incident.
Police officials accompanied by city magistrate Pramod Jha visited the school premises for investigation.
Pramod Jha said, "Preliminary enquiry indicates this is a case of suicide but facts will be ascertained only after the postmortem report arrives. Meanwhile, a social welfare officer will conduct a thorough enquiry into the entire incident and subsequent action will be taken based on his report".
