Itanagar: Two persons were arrested with 9.46 grams of suspected heroin during a routine check at Arunachal Pradesh's Banderdewa check gate on Sunday. The drug was concealed in 7 vials.
The operation, part of "Operation Dawn 2.0," was conducted under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Naharlagun, Rishi Longdo.The police team, comprising sub-inspectors Dekey Tayum & Koj Tada, and head constable Tade Bomdom, detained the suspects and recovered 7 vials of suspected heroin during a body search conducted in the presence of independent witnesses.
A case has been registered under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Banderdewa police station. The accused have been identified as Prakash Charabarty (27), a resident of Dongibil village in Lakhimpur district, and Takam Golo (24), a resident of Itanagar.
Naharlagun superintendent of police Mihin Gambo reaffirmed the police's commitment to combating drug-related crimes and ensuring the safety of the community.
