The Vande Bharat Express, set to launch in February 2025, is poised to transform rail travel between Jammu and Srinagar. With its state-of-the-art design, this high-speed train will complete the journey in just 2 hours and 30 minutes, enhancing regional connectivity and providing a significant boost to local tourism.
The eagerly anticipated Vande Bharat Express, set to connect Jammu and Srinagar, promises to redefine rail travel in the region. Operating on the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL), this cutting-edge train aims to deliver a premium travel experience. Managed by the Northern Railway zone, it will be the third Vande Bharat service in the area, following the success of two existing routes linking Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SVDK) with Delhi.
The new Vande Bharat Express will traverse over 150 km between Srinagar and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra. Commercial operations are expected to begin in February 2025, with its striking orange-and-grey design adding a distinctive touch. The inaugural run is likely to be flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in early February, although the Railway Board has yet to finalize the exact date and time.

Although the official ticket prices are yet to be announced, initial projections suggest that the AC Chair Car fare will range from INR 1,500 to 1,600. Meanwhile, the Executive Chair Car is expected to cost between INR 2,200 and 2,500. These fares promise passengers a luxurious travel experience, offering unparalleled views of Kashmir’s stunning landscapes.
