Coldplay’s lead singer Chris Martin surprised everyone on Sunday evening when he performed ‘Vande Mataram’ during his Ahmedabad show. Disney+ Hotstar, which LIVE streamed the mega show, shared a video of the singer on social media where he was seen performing the track as the crowd listened to him on India’s 76th Republic Day.
Soon after the video was shared online, fans reacted to it and shared their emotional reactions. “@coldplay you are pure love!😍♥️," one of the fans wrote. “That was unexpected! 😍," added another. Watch the video here:

Meanwhile, during the show, Chris also extended Republic Day wishes to all and said, “Hello everybody, I see you all and you look so beautiful. I see you all the way up there in the top stand. Thank you for being here. We welcome you all. Waving the Indian flag on Republic Day, that’s beautiful. Thank you all so much for making the effort to come to this show. I know it’s difficult to come here with the traffic, hotels and the ticket queues and all the bulls**t you had to go through. Thank you for making the efforts to give us this amazing day. Thank you for welcoming us to your beautiful country and thank you for letting us play for India," the singer added.

Coldplay was in India as a part of their globally acclaimed Music of the Spheres World Tour. The British band held two shows in Ahmedabad, whereas two more were held in Mumbai. In Ahmedabad, they performed at the Narendra Modi Stadium whereas in Mumbai they set the stage on fire at Navi Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. Fans who did not get a chance to watch Coldplay’s concert in Ahmedabad on January 26 were also able to watch it live on Disney+ Hotstar.
