Bokaro organizes ‘Run for Road Safety’ to promote traffic awareness
Bokaro: As part of the road safety month, the district administration organized a ‘Run for Road Safety' event on Saturday in Bokaro. More than 100 participants, primarily students, joined the run from Circuit House to Pustakalaya Maidan, passing through city landmarks like Ram Mandir, City Park, and Patharkata Chowk.
Senior officials including deputy commissioner (DC) Jadhav Viajaya Narayan Rao, deputy development commissioner (DDC) Girja Shankar Prasad, DCLR Prabhas Dutta, and district transport officer (DTO) Vandana Shejwalkar participated in the run alongside local residents and district officers.
The DC emphasized that road safety month aims to raise awareness about accidents and promote safe practices. She stressed the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, urging citizens to treat ‘every day as safety day'.
DTO Shejwalkar noted that National Road Safety Month, observed from Jan 1-31, features daily awareness programmes. She appealed for public compliance with traffic regulations.
The event concluded with officials flagging off an awareness chariot. The LED mobile unit will tour district blocks, disseminating traffic safety messages through audio-visual presentations.
