New Delhi: Hours after Union home minister Amit Shah accused him of misleading the people of Delhi with false promises, AAP chief
Arvind Kejriwal said on Saturday that BJP was relying solely on personal attacks.
Addressing a public meeting in the Narela assembly constituency, Kejriwal highlighted his govt's achievements and appealed to people not to vote for the BJP in the upcoming Delhi polls.
"I listened to Amit Shah's speech for half an hour and all he did was abuse me," Kejriwal alleged, while speaking about the AAP govt's achievements and listing welfare measures such as free electricity and water, free bus rides for women, and mohalla clinics, among others. "If BJP comes to power, it will put an end to the free welfare schemes that transformed lives in Delhi," the former Delhi chief minister claimed.
Kejriwal later addressed two more Jan Sabhas in Rohini and Bawana in northwest Delhi.
Several other AAP leaders also held Jan Sabhas and padyatras in various other parts of the city. Senior AAP functionary and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Singh addressed Jan Sabhas in Timarpur, Burari, and Adarsh Nagar, and expressed confidence that AAP would form govt in Delhi. Taking a jibe at BJP, he likened it to a "wedding procession without a groom," pointing out that the saffron party did not have a CM face.
Singh claimed that AAP govt brought "transformative" changes in education with modernised schools and free welfare initiatives such as electricity, water, healthcare, bus travel for women, and pilgrimage schemes for senior citizens.
Contesting from Kalkaji, chief minister Atishi conducted a padyatra in Govindpuri on Saturday evening.
Atishi said Kejriwal was the only leader in the country who delivers on his promises. "Delhiites trust Kejriwal because he fulfils his commitments. He promised women a samman rashi of 2,100 and assured free treatment for the elderly in private hospitals under the Sanjeevani Scheme," she said, adding that he would make sure it is made available to them.
