The Azhikode Smaraka Award 2024, instituted by the Dr. Sukumar Azhikode Vichara Vedi, was presented to former Chief Secretary and writer K. Jayakumar in a function held at Thottappally in Alappuzha on Friday.

The award, which carries a purse of ₹11,111, a citation and a plaque, was presented by Mahatma Gandhi University former Vice-Chancellor Cyriac Thomas. Jayakumar was chosen for the prize for his contributions to art and literature.

Mr. Thomas also inaugurated a programme marking the 13th death anniversary of Azhikode.
