The third Book Fair in Tiruvarur district got under way here on Friday.
Collector T. Charushree said that today’s world has become highly competitive and one should be a well learnt person to compete with others. Since books play a key role in developing and nurturing the knowledge, parents should not hesitate to buy books that enrich the subject/general knowledge of their wards in the fields in which they were familiar, she said.
Nagapattinam MP V. Selvaraj, Tiruvarur MLA Poondi K. Kalaivanan, Thiruthuraipoondi MLA K. Marimuthu, and Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation chairman Dindigul I. Leoni participated at the inaugural function held on Friday evening.
The book fair will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. till February 4 at S.S. Nagar, near the new bus stand in Tiruvarur and special bus transport arrangements had been made for the visitors.
