Nagpur: Over 10,000 citizens participated in the Tiger Run Marathon organised by Nagpur City Police to create awareness about cybercrime and drug abuse. The event, held on Saturday, saw participants competing across various categories, with Rajan Yadav and Neeta Rane emerging as winners in the 21km open category for men and women respectively.
Rajan Yadav completed the 21km distance in 1:07.00s while Neeta Rane clocked 1:17.56s. The 45+ category saw Govardhan Meena and Pallavi Moon winning the men's and women's divisions clocking 1:18.38s and 1:52.49s respectively.
The marathon began at 6am from the Police Headquarters Ground in the Police Line Takli area and concluded at the same venue by 8.30am. Winners were felicitated by police commissioner Ravinder Singal, Spl IGP Dilip Patil-Bhujbal, and joint CP Nisar Tamboli.
Bhujbal said that the President's Police Medal had been announced for Singal for his contributions to policing, drawing applause from the audience.
The winners received cash prizes, with Rs 50,000 awarded to the first-place finishers in all categories. A total of Rs 7.5 lakh in cash prizes was distributed across the event's 21km, 10km, and 5km races.
Addl CP (north region) Pramod Shewale, DCP (traffic) Archit Chandak, DCP (zone IV) Lohit Matani, DCP (zone V) Niketan Kadam and DCP (SB) Shweta Khedkar were also present on the occasion.
