Youths stop by shop in Mohali, argue with owner, take his money and leave
Mohali: A group of six to seven youths in a taxi stopped by a grocery shop in Phase 10 to buy cigarettes, after which they picked an argument with the shopkeeper, assaulted him, took Rs 45,000 in cash and a mobile phone from the counter, and left.
The police have registered a case against the unknown attackers under robbery charges at Phase 11 police station, Mohali.
Based on the statement of Narinder Singh Pawar, a case was registered against the unknown attackers at Phase 11 police station under sections 126(2), 304, 351(2), 191(3), and 190 of the BNS. The vehicle number of the attackers was also noted. The police are tracing the vehicle to gather clues about the attackers.
Narinder Singh said on Jan 22, around 6 pm, he was at the shop with his wife and son, when an Innova car stopped in the market, with six to seven people inside. They came to his shop and asked for cigarettes. He informed them that he does not sell cigarettes.
One of the young men questioned why he had the shop open if he didn't have all the items. They then began arguing with Narinder and started assaulting him.
When his son and wife tried to intervene, they were also attacked.
Phase 11 police station SHO Gagandeep Singh said, "The vehicle number has been traced. Based on this, the taxi driver is being identified. The accused will be apprehended soon."
