Agartala: Tripura chief minister
Manik Saha on Friday emphasised the essential contribution of youngsters to national development, asserting that the nation's advancement depends on their progress, during the launch of the updated Tripura Start-Up Policy.
"The policy, originally introduced in 2019, has been restructured to include significant changes. It now extends beyond IT to encompass agriculture, bamboo, food processing, and other sectors. Previously, the youth did not receive adequate support, resulting in a lack of direction. Not everyone can be provided with government jobs. This policy is crucial to address that gap, and I extend my gratitude to everyone involved in its development," he said.
He discussed the vitality and capabilities of young people, stressing the necessity of proper guidance. "This policy will channel their energy in the right direction and ensure they receive the necessary assistance from the government," he added.
Saha provided additional details about the policy's advantages, indicating that it would support young individuals in realising their entrepreneurial aspirations.
"Such initiatives align with the vision of Ek Tripura, Shrestha Tripura. Banks will also extend financial support to the youth, fostering better employment opportunities. The policy aims to tackle unemployment by engaging youth from all sections of society, ensuring inclusivity at every level," he said.
The chief minister discussed the partnerships formed with leading institutions including IITs, IIMs, NITs, and other central universities as part of the programme. He mentioned that more than 1.25 lakh bank branches are participating in the scheme, prioritising benefits for Dalits, women, and Indigenous communities.
Referencing Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Dr Saha emphasised that youth opportunities and innovation are fundamental to national development. "Our PM has often emphasized that youth are our greatest human resource. Their development is synonymous with the nation's progress. In the future, our numerous start-up policies will support this growth trajectory," he said.
