Ranchi: Preparations are under way across Ranchi as the city gets ready for Republic Day celebration at Morabadi Ground, where governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar will hoist the national flag.
Deputy municipal commissioner of the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC), Ravindra Kumar, said, "We are taking multiple measures to ensure the environment is clean and comfortable for attendees. The RMC has deployed over 300 sanitation workers to clean the venue and surrounding areas. Four mobile toilets have been installed for the participants. Water tankers are being stationed at multiple locations to ensure attendees have access to drinking water."
"Beautification efforts are also under way. Major squares and intersections will be cleaned and decorated with floral arrangements. In a bid to improve air quality and settle the dust, RMC is using anti-smog guns near the venue. This exercise, which began on Wednesday, will continue for three days as part of the pre-event preparations," he added.
Meanwhile, the Ranchi centre of India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a dip of 2-4°C in temperature, adding to the winter chill on Republic Day. Seraikela's maximum temperature on Thursday was 33.9°C and Gumla's minimum was 7.8°C. Ranchi recorded a minimum of 12°C. On January 26, Ranchi's temperature is expected to drop to 9°C, while Simdega, Garhwa, and Latehar may touch 8°C. "People should prepare for a cold morning," said Abhishek Anand, IMD head.
