Under-construction sports hostel fails to meet quality standards

Kanpur: DM Jitendra Pratap Singh on Friday randomly inspected the under-construction 80-bed sports hostel at Green Park and noted substandard construction work.
The hostel, being constructed by U Project Corporation, failed to meet quality standards. During the inspection, the DM measured various components and found the cupboard thickness to be 20mm against the required standard of 25mm. The door hasp quality was also found to be inferior and dissatisfactory.
Expressing severe displeasure, the DM questioned why the executing agency had not examined the work quality.
He also enquired about previous third-party inspection findings and ordered the formation of an investigation committee to submit a report after scrutinising all aspects.
Earlier, the DM had inspected security arrangements at the collectorate premises and instructed the LIU constable to thoroughly check suspicious persons.
