YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) suffered a severe blow as its national general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Venumbaka Vijayasai Reddy has decided to quit politics and announced to resign as MP on Saturday (January 25, 2025). Another YSRCP leader Alla Ayodhya Rami Reddy also announced to file resignation on the same day.

Sharing his decision on a social media platform X, Mr. Vijayasai Reddy said, “I am resigning from Rajya Sabha membership tomorrow (on January 25). I am not joining any other political party and I am not resigning for the sake of any other position, benefit or money. This decision is completely my personal. There is no pressure and no one has influenced me to do so.”

“I am indebted to YS Rajasekhar Reddy family, who believed in me and supported me for four decades and three generations. I am grateful to YSRCP founder YS Jaganmohan Redsdy, who gave me the opportunity to become a member of the Rajya Sabha twice and also to Bharathi who helped me to reach high level. I wish Jagan all the best,” he posted.

Mr. Vijayasai Reddy further wrote, “As a Parliamentary member, YSRCP leader, and its national general secretary, I worked tirelessly for the interests of the party and the state. I have worked as a bridge between Centre and state. Special thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah who encouraged me for more than nine years.”

“Though there are political differences with Telugu Desam Party (TDP), I do not have any personal disturbances with Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s family. Moreover, I have a long-term friendship with Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan,” he said, adding that he will pursue “agriculture” in future.

In 2024 General Elections, Mr. Vijayasai Reddy has contested for Nellore Lok Sabha constituency, but he lost the seat to TDP candidate Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy after giving a tough competition. His Rajya Sabha tenure is up to 2028. His sudden decision to quit politics shocked YSRCP cadre. However, there was no response from the party supremo so far.
